C-11 canal

C-11 is a straightforward working canal, and bullseye snakehead here behave the way they do in most South Florida ditches: they hold tight to whatever cover breaks up the current and gives them shade, ambush position, and a place to gulp air. Look for them along matted grass edges, scattered pads, laydown wood, and any culvert or pipe outflow that stacks bait and oxygenates the water. Since C-11 is non-tidal, you're not fighting a tide window — instead key on light and wind. Early morning and last light are prime, when fish push shallow and slash on top. Midday, shift to shaded banks and deeper pockets tight to cover, and don't ignore a stiff wind pushing grass or scum against one bank — that's often where the bite concentrates.

Shore access is workable — there's mapped parking nearby, closest around 0.43 mi from the water, so plan on a short walk with your gear. If you want more coverage, a kayak or small boat opens up a lot more of the canal; the nearest boat ramp is mapped about 1.22 mi out.

Tackle-wise, keep it simple and weedless. Walk a hollow-body frog or a compact buzzbait over the pads and grass mats during low light, and switch to a chatterbait or weedless soft plastic worked along wood and shade lines through the day. Spool up with 40-65 lb braid — you need the backbone to horse these fish out of cover the instant they eat.
