How to fish Delaware River beach

Access, tides & where the fish hold. Pick how you're fishing:
๐ŸŒŠ Tidal water NOAA Billingsport, N.J. ยท 0.8 mi
Rising now โ€” next High tide 7:47 PM (in 3h 7m).
Low 1:42 AM ยท 0.8โ€ฒHigh 7:13 AM ยท 5.7โ€ฒLow 2:00 PM ยท 0.4โ€ฒHigh 7:47 PM ยท 6.2โ€ฒ
๐ŸŽฃ Fish the tide, not the clock: snakehead pin bait to the grass on the flood, then feed hard as the falling (ebb) tide drains it out of the cover โ€” the last couple hours of the outgoing into low slack is prime.

Fishing this stretch of the Delaware for northern snakehead is all about finding cover in the skinny water. These fish push shallow to ambush prey and sit tight against pads, grass mats, and laydown wood along the bank. Since this is tidal water, with the nearest NOAA gauge at Billingsport, N.J. about 0.8 mi off, the tide dictates everything. High water pushes snakehead deep into flooded grass and brush where they're nearly impossible to reach, while the falling tide pulls them back out to the edges of that cover, concentrating them along visible drains and current seams. That ebb stage is when the bite really turns on, so plan your session around the last two hours of the outgoing tide.

Shore access here is solid, with parking mapped as close as roughly 0.08 mi from the water, making it easy to slip in and fish the bank without much of a hike. If you'd rather cover more water by kayak or small boat, there's a ramp mapped about 2.07 mi away, useful for reaching pockets of cover that aren't walkable from shore.

Tactics stay simple: weedless topwater frogs and buzzbaits worked slow and twitchy right over the mats, chatterbaits ripped through grass edges, and weedless soft plastics punched into thicker cover. Spool up with 40-65 lb braid to horse these fish out before they wrap you up in the wood.
