Frys Run

Frys Run is classic snakehead water — a quiet, non-tidal creek where the fish set up shop in whatever cover they can find and rarely stray far from it. Look for pads, matted grass, and laid-down wood along the margins; snakeheads will sit tight in that stuff, ambushing anything that wanders too close. Since there's no tide to plan around, focus instead on light and temperature. Early morning and late evening are prime, when snakeheads push shallow and get aggressive under low light. On bright, hot days, shift your attention to shaded pockets and any wind-blown cover, where baitfish stack up and pull the bigger fish in behind them.

Access here is straightforward. Shore fishing is your best bet for working the pads and wood methodically — there's mapped parking right on top of the water, closest spot only about 0.02 mi away, so you can be rigged and casting in minutes. If you'd rather cover water by kayak or small boat, there's a ramp mapped roughly 0.83 mi off, useful for probing pockets that are tough to reach on foot.

Tactically, keep it simple and weedless. Walk a hollow-body frog or buzzbait across the matted cover, letting it pause over any gaps. Chatterbaits and weedless soft plastics worked through wood also draw vicious strikes. Spool up with 40-65 lb braid — you'll need the muscle to horse fish out of cover once they eat.
