Manor Lake

Manor Lake plays out like most of the region's snakehead water: fish tuck into whatever cover breaks up the bank—matted grass, lily pads, laydowns and brush piles along the shallower edges. Since it's a non-tidal lake, there's no current or tide swing to plan around; instead you're working with light and temperature. Early morning and last light are prime, when snakehead push shallow to hunt along the pad edges and wood. Through the heat of the day, shift focus to shaded pockets and any wind-blown bank where baitfish get pushed into the cover—that wind-stacked structure can trigger reaction strikes even at midday.

Shore access is workable here, with mapped parking about 1.59 miles out, so plan on a bit of a walk to reach the better cover. If you'd rather cover more water or reach pads and wood that aren't bank-reachable, a boat ramp roughly 1.15 miles away gives kayak and small boat anglers a straightforward put-in to work the shoreline from the water side.

Gear-wise, keep it simple and weedless. Walk a weedless frog or buzzbait right across the mats and pads, especially in low light, and follow up with a chatterbait or weedless soft plastic worked along wood and grass edges when fish get finicky. Spool up with 40-65 lb braid—snakehead will bury you in cover the moment they eat, and you need the backbone to horse them out clean.
