Perkiomen Creek

Perkiomen Creek is a solid non-tidal fishery for northern snakehead, and since there's no tide to work around, it's really about reading the light and the cover. These fish stack up around pads, matted grass, and laydown wood, especially in the slower, weedier stretches where they can ambush from the shadows. Early morning and late evening are your prime windows, when snakehead push shallow to hunt. Through the middle of a hot day, look for shade lines and any wind-blown pockets of cover — that's often where a stubborn fish will still commit.

Shore access here is workable, with mapped parking as close as about 0.13 mi from the water, so you can slip in quietly and work a stretch of bank without much of a hike. If you'd rather cover more water or get into backwater pockets that bank anglers can't reach, a boat ramp roughly 1.49 mi away opens up kayak or small boat access, which is a real advantage for probing further into the grass and wood.

Tactics stay simple and proven: weedless topwater frogs and buzzbaits worked slow and erratic right over the pads and grass draw vicious strikes, while a chatterbait or weedless soft plastic worked along wood edges covers water when the topwater bite is off. Spool up with 40-65 lb braid — you'll need it once a big snakehead buries into cover.
