Shedekers Pond is a quiet, non-tidal water, so you're not chasing a clock here — snakehead behavior is dictated by light and temperature, not moving water. These fish relate hard to cover: think matted pads, submerged grass, laydown wood, and any shady pocket tight to the bank. In warmer months they'll sit right under the thickest canopy of vegetation, ambushing anything that crosses their window. Early and late in the day, especially with a little wind pushing bait and debris into a corner, is when they'll slide out to patrol the edges of that cover — that's your best shot at a reaction strike. Midday heat pushes them deeper into shade, so don't be afraid to work slower, tighter to structure when the sun's high.

Access here is workable either way. If you're on foot, there's mapped parking about 0.46 mi from the water, so plan for a short walk with your gear. If you've got a kayak or small boat, it's a much better bet — there's a boat ramp mapped just 0.09 mi away, letting you slip in close and cover the pads and grass lines without much hassle.

Gear up heavy: 40-65 lb braid is non-negotiable for horsing fish out of slop. Weedless topwater frogs and buzzbaits worked over matted cover are the classic call, especially in low light. Chatterbaits and weedless soft plastics punched into thinner grass or worked along wood edges cover the rest of the day well.
