Brandywine River

The Brandywine is classic invasive-snakehead water — a tidal river with enough current to push and pull fish, and enough brush, wood, and grass edges to give them cover to ambush from. Look for slack backwaters, downed timber, and any pad or grass mats along the bank; snakehead sit tight to that structure and blast anything that swims or splashes overhead. Since it's tidal (nearest NOAA reference is the Millside RR bridge station, about 2 miles off), the fish shift with the water. High tide floods the grass and brush, scattering fish shallow and tight to cover where they're tough to draw out. As the tide starts to ebb, baitfish and frogs get pulled off those flats and edges, and snakehead follow — that falling water is when the bite really turns on, concentrating fish along current seams and drain points.

Access here leans bank and kayak. There's no boat ramp mapped within about 3 miles, so this is really a carry-in or wade/bank game — bring a kayak if you can hand-launch, otherwise fish it on foot. Mapped parking sits close by, as near as roughly 0.09 miles from the water, making shore approaches easy.

Tactics: walk the banks working weedless frogs and buzzbaits across the pads and grass, switch to a chatterbait or weedless soft plastic worked through wood, and stay on 40-65 lb braid to horse them out of cover once hooked.
