Cameron Run is classic snakehead water — a tidal creek with slow, mucky flow that stacks fish tight against structure. Look for them holding in matted pads, thick grass edges, and any laid-down wood along the bank. Snakehead here don't roam much on a hard push; they tuck into cover and ambush, so precision beats blind casting. Since the water is tidal (Alexandria station just 1.4 miles off gives you a reliable read), plan your trip around the swing. High water pushes fish shallow into the grass and flooded cover where they'll sit tight and sulk. As the tide starts to fall, baitfish and frogs get pulled off the banks, and that's when Cameron Run snakehead really turn on — the ebb concentrates everything into cuts and current seams, and the reaction bite gets aggressive.

Shore access is solid, with parking mapped as close as 0.12 mile from the water, so bank fishing is easy to work quickly along productive stretches. If you'd rather cover more water or slip into skinnier backwaters, a boat ramp about 1.07 miles away opens up kayak or small boat access.

Gear up heavy — 40 to 65 lb braid is non-negotiable given the cover. Weedless topwater frogs and buzzbaits worked over the pads draw violent strikes, while chatterbaits and weedless soft plastics punched into grass edges close the deal when the topwater bite slows.
