They ambush from that cover and will crash a bait worked right along the edge of it, then often follow before committing, so patience on the retrieat pays off.

Early and late are your windows — first and last light have fish pushed shallow and aggressive, and any breeze pushing debris or scum into a pocket tends to concentrate them there. Midday in the heat, look for whatever shade the bank throws, since snakehead will slide under overhanging brush rather than sit in open sun.
