Fourmile Run fishes like classic mid-Atlantic snakehead water: a tidal creek where fish tuck into whatever cover breaks the current, whether that's grass mats, pad fields, or downed wood along the banks. Snakehead here ambush from shade and structure, so work the edges tight rather than fishing open water. Because the creek is tidal, with the nearest NOAA reference at Bellevue, D.C. just 1.6 miles off, the tide dictates the pattern. High water pushes fish shallow into flooded grass and pads to hunt; low water drains them back toward defined channel edges and deeper cover. The falling tide is the money stretch — as water pulls off the flats, baitfish get flushed out and snakehead key in hard, often blowing up on topwater right at the transition points.

Access is simple and close. Bank fishermen can walk in from mapped parking about 0.11 mile from the water, letting you cover multiple cover pockets on foot. If you want more range to hit backwater pockets and grass lines, there's a boat ramp about 0.2 mile away, ideal for a kayak or small boat launch.

Tactics stay straightforward: weedless topwater frogs and buzzbaits worked over matted grass and wood, chatterbaits for a subsurface search bait, and weedless soft plastics punched into thicker cover. Spool up with 40-65 lb braid — you'll need it to horse fish out of snags.
