How to fish Lake Brittle

Access, conditions & where the fish hold. Pick how you're fishing:
๐Ÿž Non-tidal
Levels hold steady here โ€” no tide to time. Fish low light early and late, work shade lines and wind-blown cover through the heat of the day.

Lake Brittle is a solid non-tidal option for snakehead, and since there's no tide push to work around, everything comes down to light and cover. These fish hold tight to whatever structure the lake offersโ€”pads, matted grass, and any laydown wood along the shoreline break. Early morning and the last hour or two before dark are prime, when snakehead slide up shallow to ambush. On brighter days, work the shaded edges of cover and any wind-blown banks where baitfish get pushed in; that wind-blown grass line can fish just as well midday as the low-light windows do.

Access here leans toward the bank and kayak crowd. There's no boat ramp mapped within about 3 miles, so this plays more like a carry-in or shore game than a trailer-boat lake. Parking is available nearby, with the closest spot roughly 0.79 mi from the water, so plan on a bit of a walk with your gear. A kayak lets you cover the pad fields and grass lines more efficiently, but bank anglers willing to hike can absolutely connect here too.

Gear-wise, keep it simple and stout. Weedless topwater frogs and buzzbaits worked over and through matted vegetation draw the most violent strikes, especially in low light. Chatterbaits and weedless soft plastics punched into pockets in the grass close the deal when the topwater bite slows. Spool up with 40-65 lb braidโ€”snakehead will bury you in cover the second they're hooked, and you need the backbone to horse them out clean.

๐Ÿ›ถ Boat ramps & launches
No boat ramp mapped within ~1.5 mi โ€” this is likely a bank or kayak-carry spot. A car-topper or kayak launched from shore access is often the play; check the parking options under โ€œShore.โ€
