Lake Wellington

Lake Wellington fishes like most South Florida snakehead water: non-tidal, so forget solunar-tide charts and focus on light and wind instead. Snakehead here relate hard to cover — mats of pads, matted grass lines, laydown wood, and shaded pockets along the bank. They'll sit tucked under overhanging cover or holed up in thick vegetation, ambushing anything that swims or crawls over top of them, then crash it violently. Wind-blown banks stack bait and oxygenate the shallows, so any stretch getting pushed by breeze is worth working first.

Early and late are your windows — dawn and dusk light gets fish shallow and aggressive on top. Midday sun pushes them tighter into shade and heavier cover, so slow down and pick apart shadows under mats rather than blind-casting open water. Access here is easy either way: there's a boat ramp mapped just about 0.01 mi from the water, so launching is about as convenient as it gets, and if you're fishing from shore, parking is available nearby with the closest spot roughly 0.2 mi out.

Gear up heavy — 40-65 lb braid, medium-heavy to heavy rods, and no-stretch hooksets to horse fish out of slop. Weedless topwater frogs and buzzbaits worked over matted vegetation draw the most violent strikes, while chatterbaits and weedless soft plastics worked along grass edges and wood cover fish well when the topwater bite shuts down.
