๐ŸŽฃ Fish the tide, not the clock: snakehead pin bait to the grass on the flood, then feed hard as the falling (ebb) tide drains it out of the cover โ€” the last couple hours of the outgoing into low slack is prime.

Pond Apple Slough is classic snakehead water โ€” a tidal creek with enough current to push these fish onto structure and keep them feeding. Look for bullseye snakehead tucked into pads, matted grass, and laydown wood along the banks. They ambush from cover, so any seam where vegetation meets open water is worth working slowly, especially in the warmer parts of the day when they push shallow to bask and hunt.

Tide matters here more than most anglers expect. On the high, snakehead scatter back into flooded grass and pad fields, holding tight and hard to reach. As the water starts to fall, they get pushed out of that cover toward creek edges and points, and that ebb movement is when the bite really turns on โ€” moving bait, moving fish, and a much more predictable bite window. Fort Lauderdale's Andrews Ave. Bridge tide station, about 2 miles off, is close enough to plan your trip around.

Access is easy either way. Bank anglers have mapped parking about 0.43 miles from the water, close enough for a short walk in with tackle. If you'd rather cover more of the slough, there's a boat ramp about 0.24 miles away, making kayak or small boat launches simple.

Rig weedless topwater frogs and buzzbaits for working the pads and grass, chatterbaits for edges and open pockets, and weedless soft plastics for punching through mats. Spool up with 40-65 lb braid โ€” snakehead fight dirty in cover, and you need the muscle to horse them out before they wrap you up.
