Sunset Lake is a solid pick for bullseye snakehead if you're willing to work the shady, weedy pockets rather than blind-casting open water. Being non-tidal, there's no clock to fish around beyond the sun itself — snakehead here relate to cover: matted pads, edge grass, and any fallen wood or brushy points that hold shade and ambush structure. They'll sit tight against that cover most of the day, but they get aggressive and push shallow to hunt during low light, so plan your trip around first and last light. Midday isn't dead water, though — wind-blown banks that pile grass and debris against the shoreline, along with any shaded pockets under overhanging brush, will still hold fish willing to eat.

Access here is mostly a shore or kayak-carry game. There's no boat ramp mapped within about 3 miles, so trailering in isn't realistic — this is a walk-and-cast or carry-a-kayak-down type of lake. Parking is available nearby, with the closest spot roughly 0.34 mi from the water, so expect a short walk with gear.

For tactics, keep it simple and snakehead-specific: weedless topwater frogs and buzzbaits worked slow and twitchy right over the matted vegetation, chatterbaits for a moving-bait option along grass edges, and weedless soft plastics punched into thicker pads. Spool up with 40-65 lb braid — you'll need it to horse fish out of cover once they eat.
