Woodbury Creek is classic snakehead water — a tidal creek where these invasive predators tuck into whatever cover they can find. Look for pads, matted grass, and downed wood along the banks; snakehead sit tight to this stuff, ambushing anything that swims past, and they'll hold shallow even in skinny, weedy pockets that look too small to hold a fish. Because the creek is tidal (the nearest NOAA station, Woodbury Creek, N.J., sits about 2.2 miles off), water movement dictates the bite. High tide pushes fish up into flooded grass and back into the thick stuff, while the falling tide pulls them out toward creek channels and current breaks — that ebb stage is when snakehead feed hardest, so plan to be on the water as the tide starts dropping.

Shore access is solid here, with mapped parking as close as roughly 0.06 miles from the water, making it easy to walk in and fish likely cover without much hassle. If you'd rather cover more water, a boat ramp about 0.45 miles away gets kayaks or small boats in, letting you work the creek's bends and backwaters that bank fishing can't reach.
