Chapel Branch is a quiet, non-tidal creek, which actually works in an angler's favor here — there's no tide chart to fuss over, just steady water that lets snakehead settle into predictable ambush spots. Look for them tucked into pads, matted grass, and laydown wood along the banks, especially where the creek narrows or bends and current slows. These fish are sight-and-sound predators, so any overhanging cover or shaded pocket during bright hours is worth a cast.

Since there's no tide to plan around, focus on light and wind instead. Early morning and last light are prime, when snakehead slide shallow to feed. On breezy days, work wind-blown banks where baitfish get pushed into cover. Midday, especially in summer heat, shift toward shaded undercuts and thicker canopy where fish hold tight to stay cool.

Shore access is workable, with mapped parking about 0.55 mi from the water, so plan for a short walk in. If you'd rather cover more water, there's a boat ramp mapped roughly 0.56 mi away, and a kayak is ideal for slipping quietly along the grass lines. Go-to tactics: weedless topwater frogs and buzzbaits worked over cover, chatterbaits for reaction strikes, and weedless soft plastics punched into pads. Spool up with 40-65 lb braid to horse fish out of the vegetation once hooked.
