Bush River

Bush River is textbook snakehead water — a big tidal system with plenty of skinny, sheltered pockets where these fish love to sit. Look for them tucked into lily pads, matted grass, and downed wood along the shallow edges, especially where current slides past a point or breaks off a flat. Snakehead don't roam much on a whim; they hold tight to cover and ambush, so working the seams where grass meets open water is almost always more productive than blind-casting the middle.

Because the river is tidal, water movement dictates the pattern. High tide pushes fish up into the flooded grass and shallow backs of coves, while the falling tide pulls them back out toward defined edges and drains — that ebb stage is when the bite really turns on, since baitfish and frogs get flushed out and snakehead key in hard on that movement. Checking the Pond Point tide station (about 3.7 miles off) before you go will save you a lot of guesswork.

Access here is workable either way — there's parking mapped just steps from the water, literally about 0.01 mile out, making shore fishing easy, and a boat ramp about 0.11 mile away for those wanting to cover more skinny water by kayak or small boat. Stick with weedless frogs and buzzbaits worked over the matted cover, chatterbaits along the edges, and weedless soft plastics punched into the thicker stuff — all on 40-65 lb braid so you can horse these fish out of the salad once they eat.
