How to fish Cash Lake

Access, conditions & where the fish hold. Pick how you're fishing:
๐Ÿž Non-tidal
Levels hold steady here โ€” no tide to time. Fish low light early and late, work shade lines and wind-blown cover through the heat of the day.

Cash Lake is classic still-water snakehead habitat, and since it's non-tidal there's no clock to work around beyond the sun. The fish here relate hard to cover: lily pads, matted grass, and any downed wood along the margins hold them, especially where that cover meets slightly deeper water they can slide out of to ambush. Snakehead will cruise the edges and sit under mats waiting to blow up on anything that moves overhead, so treat every patch of vegetation like it's occupied.

Low light is your best window โ€” early morning and the last couple hours before dark tend to get fish moving and more willing to chase a topwater. Through the heat of the day, shift your focus to shaded pockets under overhanging brush or thicker mats, and don't ignore any bank getting pushed by wind, since that stacks baitfish and gets snakehead active even mid-day.

Access here is mostly a shore game. Mapped parking sits about 0.43 mi from the water, so plan on a short walk in with your gear. There's no boat ramp within about 3 miles, so if you're bringing a kayak, treat it as a carry-in launch rather than a drive-up ramp.

Gear up heavy: 40-65 lb braid, a stout rod, and weedless setups throughout. Walk a weedless topwater frog or buzzbait across the mats, follow up with a chatterbait or weedless soft plastic worked along the pad edges and wood when the topwater bite slows.

๐Ÿ›ถ Boat ramps & launches
No boat ramp mapped within ~1.5 mi โ€” this is likely a bank or kayak-carry spot. A car-topper or kayak launched from shore access is often the play; check the parking options under โ€œShore.โ€

Coordinates are approximate, for finding the general area. Snakehead is an invasive species โ€” regulations on catching, keeping, transporting and killing it vary by state and change often. Never move a live snakehead between waters. Always confirm current rules with your state wildlife agency before you fish.
