Corsica River

Corsica River is classic tidal snakehead water — a slow, marshy system where fish tuck into shoreline grass, lily pads, and any fallen wood they can find. Snakeheads here ambush from cover, so target the edges where grass meets open water, pad fields with pockets, and shaded wood tangles. On calm days you'll often see them cruising the surface or gulping air near the pads, especially in the backs of coves.

Tide matters a lot on the Corsica. High water pushes fish deep into flooded grass and skinny backwaters where they're hard to reach; as the tide falls, that same cover drains and funnels baitfish — and snakeheads — back toward defined edges and channels. That ebb is when the bite really turns on, since fish are forced out of the thick stuff and become catchable along cleaner grass lines and drop-offs. Fishing the last couple hours of the outgoing, keying off the Centreville Landing tide station, is a solid local pattern.

Access is simple: shore parking is mapped close to the water, roughly 0.1 mi out, and a boat ramp sits nearby at about 0.15 mi, making both bank and kayak/boat approaches practical. Work weedless frogs and buzzbaits over the pads, burn chatterbaits along grass edges, and keep weedless soft plastics ready for wood. Spool up with 40-65 lb braid to horse fish out of cover once hooked.
