Dipper Creek

Dipper Creek is classic snakehead water — a tidal creek where these fish push shallow to ambush around any cover they can find. Look for pads, matted grass, laydowns, and flooded brush along the margins. Snakehead hold tight to that structure, using it both to break current and to launch on baitfish and each other. Because the creek breathes with the tide (Havre de Grace station, about 4.1 miles off, gives you a solid read), the fish position changes throughout the day. On high water they slide way back into the flooded grass and shoreline pockets, sometimes barely visible. As the tide starts to fall, that water funnels out of the skinny stuff and concentrates fish along creek mouths, points, and current seams — this ebb stage is when the bite really turns on and reaction strikes come easy.

Access here leans bank and kayak. There's no boat ramp mapped within about 3 miles, so plan on a carry-in or wade approach rather than trailering anything. Shore parking is available nearby, with the closest mapped spot roughly 1.02 miles from the water, so budget a short walk in.

Gear up heavy — 40 to 65 lb braid is not overkill once a snakehead buries into cover. Throw weedless topwater frogs and buzzbaits over the pads and grass, chatterbaits along edges and current seams, and weedless soft plastics when they get finicky. Fish the falling tide hardest.
