Lake Waterford is a solid year-round snakehead spot precisely because it's non-tidal — no need to chase a moving current or plan around tide swings. What matters here is light and structure. These fish sit tight to cover: lily pads, matted grass, submerged wood, and any shady undercut edge. On calm mornings and again as light fades in the evening, snakehead push shallow to hunt, and that's when a topwater bite really turns on. Through the heat of midday, look for them tucked into shade or holding on wind-blown pads and grass lines where baitfish get pushed and pinned.

Shore access here is about as good as it gets — mapped parking sits roughly 0.09 mi from the water, so you can walk in fast and work the bank without much hassle. If you'd rather cover more water or slip a kayak into the pads, there's a boat ramp about 2.04 miles away for those wanting to fish from the water instead of the bank.

Tactics stay simple: walk a weedless frog or buzzbait right over the slop, and be ready for a violent blow-up. Chatterbaits and weedless soft plastics worked along grass edges cover more ground. Spool up with 40-65 lb braid — you'll need it to horse these fish out of cover once they eat.
