๐ŸŽฃ Fish the tide, not the clock: snakehead pin bait to the grass on the flood, then feed hard as the falling (ebb) tide drains it out of the cover โ€” the last couple hours of the outgoing into low slack is prime.

North Fork Tanyard Branch is classic snakehead water โ€” a tidal creek where these fish stack up in thick cover and ambush anything that swims past. Focus on the pads, matted grass, and laydown wood along the banks; snakehead will sit tight in that stuff, especially where shade and current seams meet. Since the water's tidal, with Easton Point as the nearest reference station about a mile off, timing matters. High tide pushes fish shallow and scattered into the flooded grass, but it's the falling, ebb tide that concentrates them โ€” bait gets pulled out of the shallows and snakehead slide into the mouths of feeder guts and current breaks to feed hard. That first hour or two of the ebb is prime time.

Shore access here is solid, with mapped parking as close as 0.08 mi from the water, so you can walk in and work the bank without much hassle. If you want to cover more of the creek or reach heavier cover, a boat ramp roughly a mile away opens up kayak or small boat access, letting you slide right up to the pads and wood without spooking fish from shore.

Go weedless โ€” topwater frogs and buzzbaits worked slow and twitchy over the grass are deadly, especially on the ebb. Chatterbaits and weedless soft plastics work when they're holding tighter to wood. Spool up with 40-65 lb braid; you'll need the muscle to horse them out of cover once they hit.
