๐ŸŽฃ Fish the tide, not the clock: snakehead pin bait to the grass on the flood, then feed hard as the falling (ebb) tide drains it out of the cover โ€” the last couple hours of the outgoing into low slack is prime.

This stretch of the Potomac just east of Little Hunting Creek's mouth is textbook snakehead water โ€” shallow, tidal, and thick with the cover these fish love. Look for them tucked into lily pads, matted grass, and downed wood along the shoreline breaks where the current softens. Snakeheads here ambush from cover, so any seam where vegetation meets deeper water or a shady wood pile meets open flat is worth working slow and thorough.

Because this section is tidal, with Marshall Hall the nearest reference station about 2.3 miles off, timing matters as much as location. High tide pushes fish deep into flooded grass and pad fields where they're tough to pull out. As the tide starts to ebb, baitfish and frogs get flushed out of that skinny cover and snakehead follow, staging on the edges and hunting actively โ€” that falling water is when the topwater bite really turns on.

Shore access is workable, with parking mapped roughly 0.21 mile from the water, letting you walk in and cover bank-adjacent cover on foot. For better coverage of the pads and wood along this stretch, a kayak or small boat pays off, with a ramp mapped about 1.08 miles out. Go weedless โ€” frogs and buzzbaits over the mats, chatterbaits and weedless soft plastics along the edges, all on 40-65 lb braid to horse them out of the slop.
