Seneca Creek

Seneca Creek is one of those non-tidal stretches where you can throw the tide charts out the window entirely — the water level stays steady day to day, so it's really about light and temperature. Snakehead here hold tight to cover: lily pads, matted grass, laydown wood, anything that gives them shade and ambush position. Early and late in the day, especially in low light, they'll push shallow and start cruising the edges of that cover, sometimes even sitting right on top of the mats. Midday in summer heat, look for shade lines and any wind-blown pockets of grass or scum where baitfish get pinned up — that's where a big snakehead will park and wait.

Access-wise, this is a boat-first fishery. There's a ramp mapped right at the water, about 0.03 mi out, so getting a kayak or small boat in is about as easy as it gets on this creek. Bank fishing is possible but tougher — closest mapped parking sits around 1.21 mi away, so plan on a walk if you're going shore-only.

Once you're on the water, keep it simple: weedless topwater frogs and buzzbaits worked right across the pads and grass, chatterbaits for a little more disturbance, and weedless soft plastics punched into the thicker mats. Spool up with 40-65 lb braid — you need it to horse these fish out of cover once they blow up.
