Look for fish holding tight to lily pads, matted grass, and fallen wood along the banks. Snakehead will sit motionless in that cover waiting to blow up on anything that crosses their lane, so target the edges where open water meets vegetation rather than the open channel itself.

Because this is tidal water (the nearest NOAA reference is the Chestertown station, about 5.4 miles off), timing matters as much as location. High tide pushes snakehead up into the flooded grass and shallow backwaters where they're tough to reach and often not feeding aggressively. As the tide starts to fall, baitfish and frogs get flushed out of that cover and funnel toward the main creek, and that's when snakehead turn on. Fish the first couple hours of the ebb hard — it consistently produces the most reaction strikes.

Access here is modest. There's mapped parking nearby, with the closest spot around 2.21 miles from the water, so plan on a short walk-in approach for bank fishing. If you want more mobility to cover cover-lined banks, a boat ramp about 2.85 miles away lets you launch a kayak or small boat and drift the tide change.

Gear-wise, keep it simple and snakehead-specific: weedless topwater frogs and buzzbaits worked right over the pads and grass, chatterbaits for a little more vibration in murkier water, and weedless soft plastics punched into thicker mats. Spool up with 40-65 lb braid — you need the strength to horse these fish out of cover the instant they eat, because a snakehead in slop will bury you if you hesitate.
