Taylor Creek

Taylor Creek fishes like a lot of the better Mid-Atlantic snakehead water — a tidal system where these fish stack up shallow in the ugly stuff. Look for pads, matted grass, and laydown wood along the edges; snakeheads use that cover to ambush and will sit motionless until something crosses overhead. On higher water they push way back into flooded grass and brush, almost impossible to fish, so the trick is timing your trip around the tide swing rather than showing up whenever. Since Taylor Creek is tidal, with the nearest NOAA reference at Pond Point on the Bush River about 5.4 miles off, you can roughly pattern the push and drain here.

The falling tide is the money window. As water pulls off the flats and out of the thick cover, snakeheads slide down into creek channels and mouths of coves, concentrating in tighter, more fishable lanes — that's when the reaction bite really turns on.

Access-wise, there's a boat ramp mapped about 0.06 mi from the water, making kayak or small boat launches quick, while shore anglers have parking nearby too, closest around 0.26 mi out. Either way, come rigged heavy: 40-65 lb braid, weedless frogs and buzzbaits worked over the mats, chatterbaits around edges, and weedless soft plastics punched into thicker cover.
