๐ŸŽฃ Fish the tide, not the clock: snakehead pin bait to the grass on the flood, then feed hard as the falling (ebb) tide drains it out of the cover โ€” the last couple hours of the outgoing into low slack is prime.

Turner's Creek fishes like a lot of Chesapeake tributaries that hold snakeheadโ€”slow, weedy, and full of ambush points. Look for them tucked into pad fields, matted grass, and laydown wood along the shallower edges, especially where the creek necks down or breaks into pockets. These fish don't roam much; they sit tight to cover and wait, so working the edges methodically pays off more than covering open water fast.

Because this stretch is tidal, with the nearest reference at Sassafras River, Betterton about 4.5 miles off, timing matters. High tide pushes snakehead deep into flooded grass and pads where they're tough to pry out. As the tide starts to fall, they slide back toward creek channels and defined edges, and that ebb movement is when the bite really turns onโ€”moving fish are feeding fish.

Access here is mixed but workable. Shore anglers have mapped parking roughly 1.09 miles out, so plan on a walk-in approach. Boat and kayak anglers have it easier, with a ramp about 0.25 miles away, making it the more efficient way to reach the good cover.

Gear up with 40-65 lb braid, weedless topwater frogs and buzzbaits worked right over the mats, chatterbaits along grass edges, and weedless soft plastics for probing wood and thicker cover.
