Whetstone Run is classic snakehead water, a quiet non-tidal creek where fish stack up in the thick stuff rather than roam open water. Look for pads, matted grass, and any laydown wood along the banks; snakehead will sit tight in that cover, ambushing anything that swims or crawls past. Because there's no tide to plan around, focus on light and temperature instead. Early morning and last light are prime, when fish push shallow onto the edges of cover to feed. On bright, calm days, work the shaded pockets under overhanging brush or grass mats, and don't ignore a stiff wind pushing into a bank — that blown-in cover often triggers reaction strikes.

Access here is bank-driven. There's mapped parking about 0.14 mi from the water, so a walk-and-cast approach is realistic and probably your best bet. If you're set on paddling, know there's no boat ramp within roughly 3 miles, so any kayak trip means a carry-in launch rather than a formal ramp.
